Farmers Market and Road Trip To Release Stress.
This was the first year we spent the holidays without anyone from our family. Luckily, we have friends from Ohio who moved here almost 6 years ago. We all live in the same apartment complex and it's a blessing to be able to have them around. We all have super busy schedules so I'm usually with my daughter and husband for the most part. My older sister actually lives in California, but she's almost 7 hours away. I'll be visiting her soon when she gives birth to my niece in January.
My family never celebrated Thanksgiving for obvious reasons, like our heritage. However, we still had family dinner on Friday and my mother would cook all of the traditional Thanksgiving foods minus the turkey. This year we all gathered in my friend Crystal's house and cooked and ate and watched movies and then ate again. It was a really nice evening and helped take away the sadness of me missing out being at my Abuela's with the rest of my family.
Saturday, I woke up with severe heartburn and the worst anxiety ever. I'm trying to complete two books and work on a docu-series for my Beautiful Me campaign. I often get overwhelmed when I have tons of tasks to accomplish and that can cause serious stress in my body. One of my favorite things to do is to take road trips with my family. I've been researching cool places to visit that are no longer than a 2 hour drive away. Road trips always bring our family closer and give us an opportunity to see new land.
Today, we woke up and went to the Farmers Market and then drove about an hour away to check out this outlet mall I found online. I'm not sure why I thought it would be a good idea to visit an outlet mall the day after Black Friday. It was crowded and overwhelming and we ended up leaving after being there for 20 minutes. However, the drive to and from was very beautiful and allowed our family to disconnect for a moment. Sometimes when you are overwhelmed and the walls seem to be closing in, it's best to just jump in the car. Drive somewhere new and take a walk, maybe even go on a hike. Fresh air and good company can help lift your stress and also offer a new view on all of the things you have to do. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week as I will be knee deep in writing and creating for upcoming projects. When I get frustrated I will just remember that drive from Saturday and hold on to the fact that I am working towards my dreams.
