Finally Home
Well everyone, we are finally home from our two week road trip. It was one of the most amazing yet slightly stressful trips I've ever been on with my fiancé and daughter. We visited some cool spots and ate a lot of chipotle. I was able to visit Antelope Canyon and cross that off my bucket list. I was obsessed with going when I first joined Pinterest and made a travel board. Living in the midwest and growing up in the inner city, travel seemed unrealistic at times. I remember growing up and my mom would always show us pictures of places all around the world. We had maps covering all the walls, and she made it a point to force us to memorize countries and their capitals. The funny thing is, the first place I ever traveled outside of Ohio and New York was Bermuda, and then I went t Jamaica as a graduation present from my uncle.
I always wanted to take my children traveling around the U.S and other countries when I became a mother. Luckily Chea has always loved to travel and has always had a job that allowed that flexibility. When we first moved to California Chea had to get an apartment in Arizona and Orange, California. So he's been traveling back and forth the entire time we've lived here. He just recently got a new position and will be solely based in the SOCAL area. So we decided to make his last work trip out of state, a tag along trip for Amirah and I. It was a beautiful experience to see so much land uninterrupted. I saw the bluest of skies and the greenest grass and trees ever. Its funny because people always want to go out of this country to find things we already have in neighboring states.
I really want to encourage everyone to just drive, when you get a chance just make it happen. It's actually not that expensive to travel in or out of state or to see amazing new sites. Do your research and make Yelp and Google your best friends. Take your family somewhere new and teach your children the importance of diversity. Diversifying their interest, knowledge and understanding of a world outside of their own. It's really crazy but who knew such amazing sites were simply a 10 hour drive away. I'm happy to be home in my own bed and my own kitchen but I do miss being away. Chea and I have committed to living as minimalistic as possible so we can spend our time and money living and experiencing the out doors. We both realize the most important thing we have in this world is our family, and we can take that with us everywhere we go.
