LACMA
It's such a blessing having a partner who gets to work from home, although he splits his living between Phoenix and Orange County he does his best to spend as much time with myself and Amirah as he can. The times when he can't Amirah and I go on little adventures and explore the places close by. I finally got around to taking Amirah to LACMA two weeks ago when Chea was gone out of town for work. I must say it's not the same when he isn't around, we are such a tight little family and I really enjoy spending all my time with my fiancé. I've been blessed to grow into such a beautiful friendship with Chea that he is truly my best friend.
We drove to LA and met up with Amirah's godfather Jerreau. The one good thing about having godparents who live close is they can help you when you feel overwhelmed. Amirah and Jerreau ran around the museum and I followed behind enjoying the amazing art. We waited 40 minutes to go see the James Turrell exhibit that was pretty cool, it reminded me of a scene from Willy Wanka. We painted in the kids room and got caught in the rain. Overall we had an amazing time together and I also found out children get a free yearly membership to LACMA.
Homeschooling disadvantages are mainly the social aspect of regular school. So I try to make sure that Amirah gets out and spends time amongst other children as much as possible. The benefits out weight the disadvantage at the end of the day. We are able to travel as a family, create our own schedule and curriculum and challenge her art and culture intake beyond the city limits.
Here are a few pics from the visit.
