Time Alone In San Francisco
I haven't blogged in awhile and I'm totally okay with that. I've been writing and wedding planning on top of my daily responsibilities. Plus I keep forgetting to charge my camera so I miss opportunities to take pictures.
What's been going on in the Chea household? Well first off, we took a much needed trip home. We had some personal matters to take care of as well as a secret engagement to attend. We literally had to decide last minute to come home and jumped on a plane the next day at 6 AM. We witnessed two of our great friends Abby and Najib have a beautiful engagement that we wouldn't have missed for the world. Spending time with friends and driving around our home town of Ohio was a great break for our family.
We had not been home in six months, and although some of our friends and my mother have been to visit, it's just different being home. It's just the three of us here in the OC and we spend a lot of time together. It was nice to see Chea laugh and go hang out with his friends and family without me as well as myself being able to have some much needed girl time. We stayed at my mom's house because we are currently renting our home in Ohio out to a lovely couple. It was actually really nice to have my mother spoil us and let us have her ever so comfortable bed. Chea stayed one week, I stayed two and Amirah will be home tomorrow after four weeks. My maid of honor is coming to visit so it worked out perfectly to let Amirah fly back with her.
It's crazy because Chea and I have never had two weeks alone in the seven years that we've been together. I didn't move in with him until I was six months pregnant because I had a dance contract to fulfill in New York where I was living prior to my pregnancy. Chea and his best friend purchased our home to flip and resale. However shortly after they purchased it, his best friend fell in love and moved out. Chea and I got serious and then pregnant. When we lived in Ohio my mother would always watch Amirah and her house was only five minutes from ours. Plus Amirah never spent more than two days away from us without us missing her and wanting her to come home.
In our time alone, we were able to be selfish and focus only on our romantic relationship. Even though we FaceTimed Amirah about three times a day, we were still able to revisit our pre parental days.
We went to the beach, hiking and cooked dinner together. We just hung out like two lovers with no worries. It was really nice, but I missed our daughter every day.
Our trip to San Francisco was a business trip that we turned into some slight pleasure. We walked the streets of San Fran, visited the Golden Gate Bridge and rode bikes by the ocean. What I learned in our time alone is that I am so happy to be spending my life with my best friend. Chea can still make me laugh harder than anyone I know while at the same time making me feel so in love. His smile and kind heart are the two things I fell in love with. Knowing that I get to spend my life with a man that still gives me butterflies is truly a blessing. My favorite part of our relationship is our honesty with one another. We argue, we laugh, we love and we laugh some more. I'm very excited to know that I'm marrying my best friend and that even after seven years of no alone time that we can still connect on the same level that we did when we first met.
Here are some pics from our trip.
